Master of Light distinctions are organized into two principal recognition categories:
• Master of Light Honorary Distinctions
• Associate of Master of Light Distinctions• Master of Light Artist Distinctions

The Honorary Master of Light (HMoL) distinction is the highest honorary recognition conferred by the Master of Light Photographic Association.
It is awarded by decision of the Artistic Council to authors whose body of work demonstrates exceptional artistic achievement and lasting contribution to the field of photography.
This distinction is not obtained through application. It is conferred exclusively by invitation.
The title may also be conferred upon individuals whose work and commitment have significantly contributed to the institutional development of the Master of Light Photographic Association.
The Associate of Master of Light distinctions constitute the structured merit-based recognition framework of the Master of Light system.
All authors begin their progression with the AMoL distinction. Advancement through subsequent degrees reflects sustained exhibition achievement within the Master of Light institutional framework.
The Associate distinctions are conferred in four progressive degrees:

Each degree represents an increased level of documented exhibition accomplishment and sustained commitment to the Master of Light system.
The Associate of Master of Light (AMoL) distinction is granted to authors who provide documented evidence of having achieved the following results through participation in international photographic exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA:
At least 20 different photographic works by the author have been accepted at international exhibitions.
(Note: One work may have a maximum of 5 acceptances. After the fifth acceptance, the work may continue to be exhibited; however, additional acceptances will not be calculated toward the distinction.)
At least 5 of the total photographic works have received at least 3 acceptances in exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA.
At least 5 of these international exhibitions have been held in different countries under the patronage of the Master of Light PA.
Applicants must submit, together with their application, five photographic works, each of which has been accepted in at least three exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA. These works must be submitted in digital format, with each image sized at 1920×1080 pixels. Aplicants also need to upload their own portrait photo, which will be used for the Master of Light ID card.
Upon verification of the submitted documentation and compliance with the established criteria, the Associate of Master of Light (AMoL) distinction may be conferred.

The AMoL distinction constitutes the foundational recognition within the Associate structure. It is awarded to authors who have fulfilled the initial established standards of exhibition achievement as defined by the Master of Light regulations.
Use of designation:The full designation is used in formal documents and certificates.The abbreviation AMoL is used after the author’s name in professional contexts.

Authors may, however, apply directly for a higher distinction without first obtaining AMoL I, provided that all established criteria are met.
Associate of Master of Light II (AMoL II):Application may be submitted by providing ten different photographic works that meet the Master of Light standards, together with the required documentation.
Associate of Master of Light III (AMoL III):Application may be submitted by providing twenty different photographic works that meet the Master of Light standards, together with the required documentation.
The Artistic Council of the Master of Light PA evaluates each submitted work individually and subsequently assesses the collection as a whole. The evaluation includes consideration of technical standards, the author’s signature style, and the overall integrity of the collection.
If the Council determines that the required standards have been met, the distinction applied for may be conferred. Applicants are advised to refer to the respective distinction section for detailed criteria.
The fee for bypassing one stage is €100. The fee for bypassing two stages is €200.
The Associate of Master of Light I (AMoL I) distinction is granted to authors who hold the AMoL distinction and provide documented evidence of having achieved the following results through participation in international photographic exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA:
At least 50 different photographic works by the author have been accepted in international exhibitions. (Note: One work may receive a maximum of five acceptances. After the fifth acceptance, the work may continue to be exhibited; however, additional acceptances will not be calculated toward the distinction.)
At least six of the photographic works have received a minimum of three acceptances each in international exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA. These works must be different from the five works submitted for the AMoL distinction.
At least ten of these international exhibitions must have been held in different countries under the patronage of the Master of Light PA.
The author must have won at least one Master of Light diploma or medal.
Applicants must submit, together with their application, six photographic works, each having at least three acceptances, including at least one work that has received a Master of Light diploma or medal in exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA. These works must be submitted in digital format, with each image sized at 1920 × 1080 pixels.
If the Artistic Council of the Master of Light PA determines that all criteria have been met, the Associate of Master of Light I (AMoL I) distinction may be conferred. In the event of refusal, the next application may be submitted no earlier than six months from the date of the initial application.
Full designation: Associate of Master of Light IAbbreviation: AMoL I
The AMoL I distinction constitutes the first progressive degree within the Associate structure. It is awarded to authors who have demonstrated sustained exhibition achievement beyond the foundational AMoL distinction, in accordance with the Master of Light regulations.
Use of designation:The full designation is used in formal documents and certificates.The abbreviation AMoL I is used after the author’s name in professional contexts.

Authors may, however, apply directly for the Associate of Master of Light III (AMoL III) distinction without first obtaining AMoL II, provided that all criteria specified in Section =Associate of Master of Light III- are met and that twenty photographic works meeting the Master of Light standards are submitted.
The submitted works must be provided in digital format, each sized at 1920 × 1080 pixels.
The Artistic Council of the Master of Light PA evaluates each submitted work individually and subsequently assesses the collection as a whole. Particular attention is given to technical standards, the author’s signature style, and the overall integrity of the collection.
If the Artistic Council determines that the established criteria have been fulfilled, the Associate of Master of Light III (AMoL III) distinction may be conferred. In the event of refusal, a new application may be submitted no earlier than one year from the date of the initial application.
The fee for bypassing the AMoL II distinction and applying directly for AMoL III is €100.
The Associate of Master of Light II (AMoL II) distinction is granted to authors who hold the AMoL I distinction and provide documented evidence of having achieved the following results through participation in international photographic exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA:
At least 100 different photographic works by the author have been accepted in international exhibitions. (Note: One work may receive a maximum of five acceptances. After the fifth acceptance, the work may continue to be exhibited; however, additional acceptances will not be calculated toward the distinction.)
These works must have been accepted in exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA in at least 15 different countries.
At least 20 of these international exhibitions must have been held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA.
At least seven of the photographic works must have received a minimum of three acceptances each in international exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA. These works must be different from the six works submitted for the AMoL I distinction. The author must have won at least three Master of Light diplomas or medals. Applicants must submit, together with their application, seven photographic works, each having at least three acceptances, including the works that have received a Master of Light diploma or medal in exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA.
If the Artistic Council of the Master of Light PA determines that all criteria have been fulfilled, the Associate of Master of Light II (AMoL II) distinction may be conferred. In the event of refusal, a new application may be submitted no earlier than six months from the date of the initial application.
Full designation: Associate of Master of Light IIAbbreviation: AMoL II
The AMoL II distinction constitutes the second progressive degree within the Associate structure. It is awarded to authors whose sustained exhibition record reflects an elevated level of documented achievement and continued advancement in accordance with the Master of Light regulations.
Use of designation:The full designation is used in formal documents and certificates.The abbreviation AMoL II is used after the author’s name in professional contexts.

The Associate of Master of Light III (AMoL III) distinction is granted to authors who hold the AMoL II distinction and provide documented evidence of having achieved the following results through participation in international photographic exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA, the Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP), or the Photographic Society of America (PSA), in at least 20 different countries:
At least 200 different photographic works by the author have been accepted in international exhibitions. (Note: One work may receive a maximum of five acceptances. After the fifth acceptance, the work may continue to be exhibited; however, additional acceptances will not be calculated toward the distinction.)
At least 30 of these international exhibitions must have been held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA, in at least 15 different countries.
At least 20 of the photographic works must have received a minimum of three acceptances each in international exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA.
The author must have won at least three Master of Light medals. Applicants must submit, together with their application, 20 photographic works, each having at least three acceptances, including the works that have received Master of Light medals in exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA.
If the Artistic Council of the Master of Light PA determines that all criteria have been fulfilled, the Associate of Master of Light III (AMoL III) distinction may be conferred. In the event of refusal, a new application may be submitted no earlier than six months from the date of the initial application.
Full designation: Associate of Master of Light IIIAbbreviation: AMoL III
The AMoL III distinction constitutes the highest degree within the Associate structure. It is awarded to authors whose long-term exhibition accomplishments demonstrate distinguished merit and sustained contribution in accordance with the Master of Light regulations.
Use of designation:The full designation is used in formal documents and certificates.The abbreviation AMoL III is used after the author’s name in professional contexts.

The Master of Light Artist Distinctions constitute the qualitative advancement beyond the Associate structure within the Master of Light system.
To be eligible, an author must have held the Associate of Master of Light III (AMoL III) distinction for at least one year.
This distinction marks the transition from achievement-based recognition to artistic evaluation by the Master of Light Artistic Council. Authors who have held the Associate of Master of Light III (AMoL III) distinction for a minimum period of one year may apply for the Master of Light Artist distinction.
Eligibility requires documented evidence of having earned at least five Master of Light medals in exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA, excluding medals obtained during the period leading to the attainment of the AMoL III distinction.
Authors who meet these criteria are granted the right to submit a collection of ten photographic works to the Artistic Council of the Master of Light Photographic Association. The collection must be submitted both as printed works (30 × 40 cm) and in digital format (1920 × 1080 pixels).
For the Master of Light Artist distinction to be conferred, the submitted collection must receive a vote of at least 4:1 or 5:0 by the Artistic Council.
Bypassing stages within the Artistic Distinctions structure is not permitted.
The evaluation is based on the integrity of the submitted collection and the author’s established artistic signature.
Authors who have held the Master of Light Artist distinction for a minimum period of one year may apply for the Master of Light Artist I distinction.
Eligibility requires documented evidence of having earned at least ten Master of Light medals, including a minimum of five gold medals, in exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA, excluding medals obtained during the period leading to the attainment of the Master of Light Artist distinction.
Authors who meet these criteria are granted the right to submit to the Artistic Council of the Master of Light Photographic Association a collection of 30 photographic works. The collection must be submitted both as printed works (30 × 40 cm) and in digital format (1920 × 1080 pixels). All works must be distinct from those previously submitted for the Master of Light Artist distinction.
For the Master of Light Artist I distinction to be conferred, the submitted collection must receive a vote of at least 4:1 or 5:0 by the Artistic Council.
The submitted body of work must show both consistency and evolution in artistic vision.
Authors who have held the Master of Light Artist I distinction for a minimum period of one year may apply for the Master of Light Artist II distinction.
Eligibility requires documented evidence of having earned at least ten Master of Light gold medals in exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA, excluding medals obtained during the period leading to the attainment of the Master of Light Artist I distinction.
Authors who meet these requirements are granted the right to submit to the Artistic Council of the Master of Light Photographic Association a collection of 50 photographic works. The collection must be submitted both as printed works (30 × 40 cm) and in digital format (1920 × 1080 pixels).
For the Master of Light Artist II distinction to be conferred, the submitted collection must receive a unanimous favorable vote from the Artistic Council.
It represents the culmination of artistic development within the Master of Light system.
Authors who have held the Master of Light Artist II distinction for a minimum period of one year may apply for the Master of Light Artist III distinction.
Eligibility requires documented evidence of having earned at least twenty Master of Light gold medals in exhibitions held under the patronage of the Master of Light PA, excluding medals obtained during the period leading to the attainment of the Master of Light Artist II distinction.
Authors who meet these criteria are granted the right to submit to the Artistic Council of the Master of Light Photographic Association a collection of 100 photographic works. The collection must be submitted both as printed works (30 × 40 cm) and in digital format (1920 × 1080 pixels).
For the Master of Light Artist III distinction to be conferred, the submitted collection must receive a unanimous favorable vote from the Artistic Council.
A submitted collection of photographic works must clearly reflect the distinctive artistic signature of the author, making the photographs recognizable and distinguishable within a broader photographic context.
The collection should demonstrate visual coherence, consistency in format, and technical integrity. Beyond visual unity, the works should convey a conceptual connection or narrative continuity that unites them as a coherent body of work. Whether the collection represents a continuation of an existing artistic exploration or an entirely new project does not influence the evaluation.
In addition to evaluating the conceptual and artistic coherence of the collection, the Artistic Council will assess the technical proficiency of the submitted photographs as an indicator of the author’s level of mastery. Photographic technique and genre are not restricted.
Photographic works submitted in digital format must be provided in JPEG format, in the sRGB color space, with dimensions of 1920 pixels on the longer edge and 1080 pixels on the shorter edge.
Photographic works submitted in print format, where required, must measure 30 × 40 cm and be unmounted.
When submitting applications for Associate distinctions, applicants must ensure that no more than five acceptances per photographic work are listed in the application form.
The Artistic Council of the Master of Light Photographic Association is an international body composed of five members.
Each member of the Council is a distinguished author who holds the highest distinctions in the field of photography and possesses recognized expertise in the area subject to evaluation.
The names of the members of the Artistic Council are disclosed only after the conclusion of the distinction evaluation process.
The Council convenes annually to review submissions and render decisions. The decisions of the Artistic Council are final and not subject to appeal.
For each Associate of Master of Light distinction (AMoL, AMoL I, AMoL II, AMoL III), a fee of €50 shall be payable upon approval of the application.
If an author holding AMoL or a higher Associate distinction chooses to bypass one progressive stage and apply directly for the next degree, the applicable fee shall be €100.
If an author chooses to bypass two progressive stages, the applicable fee shall be €200.
All bypass fees are payable only upon approval of the application.
For each Master of Light Artist distinction (MoL Artist, MoL Artist I, MoL Artist II, MoL Artist III), a fee of €100 shall be payable upon approval of the application.
