Engineer by education and an Artist by choice, Hema Narayanan worked in the Technology & Software development industry for many years, before giving up her career, in pursuit of her passion for Photography & Writing. As an avid traveller, she defined a profession, that included traveling and photography. Now, a “Graduate of New York Institute of Photography(NYIP)”, Hema is a known Photojournalist and a frequently published Writer in India; she writes for newspapers, portals, magazines and occasionally for NYIP’s blog as a Guest Writer. As a licensed Artist with Getty Images and Shutterstock, she also undertakes Commercial projects in Urban Spaces, Home decor & Interiors, Real Estate, Lifestyle, Product, Food, Candid Portraits and commissioned Travel (including Writing).
Under the banner of her company “Wider Angles”, she conducts ‘Photo Workshops & Walks’ as a Mentor to enthusiasts in the city. She leads her signature photography tours, “Experience India!” for photographers from different parts of the world and also infuses the love for this Art into the young minds, at an International School. During her free time, she volunteers for CRY (Child Rights & You), on children related issues to generate photographic content for awareness building campaigns in India. She is invited for ‘Expert Talks & Panel discussions’ at different forums, corporates and academic Institutions and is also on panel of Judges for photo contests. She is a member of the ‘Youth Photographic Society, Bangalore (YPS)’, ‘Federation of Indian Photography (FIP)’ and the ‘Photography Society of America (PSA)’. Recently, she took up the volunteering role of ‘Star Ratings Director’ with PSA and as a reviewer of Images for couple of PSA groups.
